In this interview with Georgia Tech women’s basketball head coach Nell Fortner, there’s some insight into the teams current standing going into the 2020 season. A couple of interesting points:

  • There are five returning players from last season
  • Two players opted out because of the covid-19 pandemic

Fortner seems confident that the team can build off its strong finish from last season. As the article mentions they were a bubble team for the NCAA women’s tournament. In her second season, Fortner seems confident that the team has the experience and leadership to improve on last season and hopefully make the NCAA tournament this time around.

As the NCAA basketball season is fast approaching, Tech’s official athletic site has been featuring video clips from the preseason press conference that features various players. In this edition, Michael Devoe is the featured player. Devoe will be going into his junior year, and as the article points out, he’s one of the team’s most improved players — this includes a decent improvement in his scoring average per game. His play last season was solid enough to earn him an All-Atlantic Coast Conference an honorable mention and a spot on the all-conference second team. During the interview, Devoe touches on some of the team’s practice routines during the pandemic. This includes focus on conditioning and skill development.

Congratulations are in order to Tech cross country runners Nicole Fegans, Liz Galarza and Mary Kathyrn Knott. As the article points out, the trio made school history at the 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Championships by receiving All-ACC honors. Great job by them and the entire cross country team. #GoJackets

For the Yellow Jackets they’ll have a lot to improve on based on their most recent performance. As this article points out, the offensive line definitely is one area of concern. The defense had its own struggles, but it’s understandable considering the dominance of Notre Dame’s offensive line. Overall, though, going into a bye week it’s not a bad idea to look back at the most recent game, even if it was a lopsided loss. There should be plenty to learn from the film from this game.
