Lucas Johnson had some bad injury luck during his time on the Flats. The San Diego, CA native was out for the entire 2018 season with a foot injury, and after almost scoring a touchdown in the Pittsburgh game this season, was injured and never played another snap for the Yellow Jackets. The announcement that he was entering the transfer portal will hopefully benefit him in the long run, and we wish him nothing but the best. Thanks for everything, Lucas!
Extremely grateful to @CoachCollins for giving me the opportunity to join the @GeorgiaTechFB Family!!!!!!!

Although Georgia Tech might have lost a player to the transfer portal yesterday, they immediately offset that loss with the hiring of a Defensive Graduate Assistant. Cristian Garcia played linebacker for Florida while current Tech Head Coach Geoff Collins was the Defensive Coordinator for the Gators. Garcia graduated in 2017, and has spent the last two seasons as a Defensive Graduate Assistant with the UNLV Rebels. Collins must have seen something he liked in Garcia, and hopefully the Jackets benefit from his coaching. Welcome to the Flats, Cristian!
If you’re looking for Georgia Tech on this list, you won’t have to scroll very far. The Jackets were ranked dead last out of all 130 college football teams by PFF for their returning offensive line quality. This doesn’t really come as a surprise to me, as the offensive line was dreadful all year, causing many of the problems that the offense as a whole faced. Hopefully, the addition of grad transfer Ryan Johnson from Tennessee will give a much needed boost to the rest of the offensive line this season.
The win against UNC Saturday evening really did wonders for selling home basketball tickets for Georgia Tech. It could be that or the fact that the Yellow Jackets are facing off against one of the most popular college basketball teams in the nation Wednesday night, the Duke Blue Devils. I’m not too high on Tech’s chances in the game, but hey, stranger things have happened.

Congratulations to Joey Bart on getting an invitation to Spring Training for the San Francisco Giants! All of the hard work he puts forth should garner him a call up to the Big Leagues in no time! Keep it up, Joey!
Before I end the article, I’d like to give a shoutout to my Dad. Today’s his birthday, and he’s had a huge impact on me throughout my life. He gave me my Tech fandom, among other things. Happy Birthday, Dad!
Question of the Day: How do you feel about the new coaching hire?
