Congratulations to the Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team. They defeated the 23rd ranked Miami Hurricanes team last evening 61-54. It was impressive the way they did it. At the end of the third period the Yellow Jackets were trailing the Hurricanes 42-31. In the fourth period they outscored the Hurricanes 30-12. It’s become clear that this is a special team that has a lot of talent. With this win, the Yellow Jackets have improved to 11-2 on the season and they are 2-0 in the ACC.
Here’s a link to the statistics from the women’s basketball game from last night. A key difference were the turnovers which Tech was able to force in the fourth period -- seven in total. That’s quite an impressive win by the Yellow Jackets. They will be on the road for their next game against Wake Forest. The game takes place on January 5 with tip-off set for 12:00 PM.
The Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team will be on the road to face off against North Carolina tomorrow. Tip-off is set 6:00 PM. Head coach Josh Pastner provides a preview of UNC in this video. In the video he touches on Tech’s do’s and don’ts for the game. It won’t be easy, but hopefully they can pick up a tough win on the road against the Tar Heels.
This was a nice article that kind of highlights the good and the bad of the Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team. Josh Pastner is getting his team where he’d like it to be; though, as the article points out, there are still some steps that need to be made. The Yellow Jackets looked good for most of the game against FSU. The last 10 minutes of that game and the score that resulted from it doesn’t reflect that effort. Hopefully, Tech will be able to get some big wins, particularly against some of their ACC opponents they have coming up on their schedule.
One question I find myself wondering is why the women’s team isn’t ranked? What are you thoughts of the men’s and women’s basketball team?
