Technical Tidbits 9/2: Cross-country And Volleyball Teams Victorious

Despite the football team’s loss to Clemson on Thursday, it was a good weekend for GT Athletics.

While the outcome of the football team’s Thursday night’s season opener wasn’t what we had all hoped for, there were some better results this weekend for GT athletics.

Georgia Tech’s women’s and men’s cross-country teams kicked off their 2019 season in Athens, Georgia for the annual UGA Bulldog Invitational. And for the second year in a row, both teams were victorious. They were matched up against Kennesaw State and host school, UGA. Some of the stars of the event included Avery Bartlett, Braeden Collins, and James Cragin from the men’s team. From the women’s team, Tech’s leaders included Nicole Fegans, Liz Galarza, and Kim Hallowes. Congratulations to both Yellow Jacket cross-country teams!

The Yellow Jacket volleyball team was also on a roll this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational. They swept Southern and UNC Asheville to win the weekend tournament. Yellow Jacket freshman Julia Bergmann was named the tournament’s MVP. The volleyball team’s next match will be tomorrow as they are on the road to take on Kennesaw State.

Both the Yellow Jacket swim team and its golf team have released their 2019 season schedules. It looks like GT Athletics is getting into full swing.

With a new week and a new opponent coming up, I understand we should be looking ahead to USF, but I thought it would be fun to include this tweet to relive one of the brighter moments from last week’s game.

Speaking of the Clemson game, the turnover social-media whiteboard gimmick seemed to have made quite a ripple. It seems some thought it was tacky, while others didn’t. In college football it seems teams are always looking for new ways to grab attention. The whiteboard aims to do so literally. What are you thoughts about it? Is it tacky or is it a good idea? Any suggestions for something different?
