The Yellow Jackets will be wearing new gold jerseys for the upcoming game against the Citadel. It’s been a while since they’ve wore gold jerseys, 2016 to be exact. Of course, last week they wore the white jerseys. There will be other jerseys that the team will debut this season.
Jordan Mason had a wonderful game last week against USF. He rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown. In the season opener against Clemson he rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown. Aside from his ability to run the ball Mason is also good in pass protection. He received praise from Coach Geoff Collins for his blocking on passing plays. As the article points out, this will be crucial to how Tech evolves into its new offensive style that will rely more heavily on passing.
Juanyeh Thomas’ younger brother has been extended an offer by Tech. Azareyeh Thomas is a sophomore at Niceville Highschool where the elder Thomas was a star athlete. Also, like his elder brother, Azareyeh is a defensive back who seems to have a knack for pass deflections and interceptions. Congratulations to him on the offer.

So, I don’t know where this article gets the idea that there’s necessarily a competition going on for the quarterback position. Yes, I know about the whole “Competition is King” mantra, and I agree that each of Tech’s QBs are putting in their best efforts to be the starter. But one thing I’ve been hearing repeatedly is “situational football”. Until the entire offense comes together and there’s one quarterback who best fits that offense, it seems the quarterback who’s in the game is the one best fitted for the current situation. That’s not exactly up for grabs.
So, what are you predictions for tomorrow’s game against the Citadel? Does anyone else anticipate it will be strange cheering for the team that’s (supposedly) not running the triple-option?
