Fearlessness would seem to be a key trait to possess, no matter what team you’re facing. Reading the quotes from this article, it seems head coach Geoff Collins and his staff have worked hard to prepare the Yellow Jackets mentally as well as physically for the season ahead.

There’s no doubt that Clemson has earned the respect of Tech players. What’s more important, though, is their belief in themselves and the sense of their relentlessness. As the article mentioned, last season Clemson won its first 10 games by a margin of 20 points or more. Whatever the score turns out to be on Thursday night, I expect Tech to put up a really good fight from beginning to end.

In a moving tribute to the memory of Yellow Jacket defensive tackle Brandon Adams, who passed away earlier this year, one player will wear Adams’ #90 jersey during every Tech game of the season. The announcement was made by Coach Geoff Collins on Sunday. The first player to do so will be Adams’ close friend Chris Martin. Also, the team will feature a decal of Adams #90 on its helmet.

Georgia Tech’s swim team has picked up a new commit. Backstroker Nathan Hayes has announced his commitment to Tech. Hayes, who is from Shoreline, Washington, is a recipient of USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors. He’ll join the Tech swim team in the fall of 2020. Welcome to The Flats!

In more football news, the odds makers now have Georgia Tech as 36 point underdogs against Clemson in their season opener this Thursday night. Wasn’t it 34 just a few weeks ago? Whatever it is, my feeling is that a lot of people are underestimating this team. I’m not suggesting that Tech will win necessarily, but I do believe people are going to be in for a surprise.
