The AJC continued its series that profiles some of Tech’s incoming freshmen. This article focused on Cornelius Evans. Evans is a 6’4” 215-pound linebacker who’s part of the 2019 recruiting class.
Evans was a three-star recruit coming out of Central Gwinnett High School. Evans has attended four different high schools on his path towards Tech. His family, originally from South Carolina, had to make sacrifices so that he could find the right opportunity. Attending one of the many local high schools in Atlanta was the opportunity that Evans needed.
Atlanta being arguably one of the hottest sources of football recruits in the nation proved to be a wise move for Evans. Evans was recruited by Tech defensive coordinator Andrew Thacker and committed to Tech in January of this year. Evans will add to the list of Tech’s several talented linebackers.
196 student-athletes from Georgia Tech were named to the 63rd annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll. Leading the way was the track and field team with 54 student-athletes. Among other teams, the football team had 30 student-athletes make the honor roll and the baseball team had 19. Congratulations to these student-athletes for their hard work both on and off the field.
Here are some Tweets from my Tech Twitter feed:
So, it seems like Coach Choice is in Hawaii. Should we expect any Hawaiian recruits committing in the near future?

So, I was curious what this article would say about Tech. This quote was one of only two times the Yellow Jackets were mentioned: “Sure, someone could go buck wild and predict Georgia Tech to a bowl.” Apparently, at least one writer at 247 Sports doesn’t have high expectations for Tech’s football team.
As one reader commented in a previous Tidbits article, it’s always better to be underestimated than overestimated. Yup, I think the Yellow Jackets football team will have some pleasant surprises in store for Tech fans. A bowl berth would be a great ending to the season, but I can understand why some would not be so optimistic, given that this is a rebuilding year. With that being said, what are your predictions for the 2019 season? Final record? Major upsets? Feel free to leave your thoughts below.
