Between all of the accolades and players drafted, one can almost forget about the early NCAA tournament exit the Jackets had. Many different players were named to either (or multiple) all-Region/all-American teams, with Tristin English and Kyle McCann making the first-team all-Atlantic team and earning all-American honors from NCBWA and D1 Baseball. Connor Thomas made the all-Region first-team, and Michael Guldberg finished on the all-Region second team. These players are well deserving of all the honors that come their way, and we wish the best of luck to English, McCann and Thomas, who are now #ProJackets.
Georgia Tech football got some good news early Thursday morning, as three-star safety Nick Turner committed to the Jackets. The New Orleans native plays for Brother Martin High School and chose Tech over Tennessee, Penn State, Texas Tech, Baylor and 10 other schools. Congratulations Nick!
This is one of the biggest official visit weekends of the year for the Jackets, so let’s hope that Coach Collins and company make good impressions on all of the recruits and reel in some big fish!
Coach Geoff Collins just can’t stop recruiting players or coaches. Both of the two hires are young, dynamic coaches with NFL and college experience. Kyle Seger comes from Temple after being a graduate assistant and Edward Thompson recently completed an internship with the New York Giants. Both of the two played college football, with Seger playing defensive end at Ball State, and Thompson playing linebacker at Louisiana-Lafayette. These are two great hires and should have a great future on the Flats!
The Georgia Tech strength program also recently got featured by the famous Instagram account House of Highlights, which helps to provide great exposure to the wonderful work the new S&C team has been doing so far.
Even though the Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country programs did not have the finishes that they wanted at the NCAA Championships in each season, they did well enough to be ranked 16th in the nation by the USTFCCCA. This is a big improvement from the past few seasons, and look for the Jackets to continue improving, even with crucial seniors graduating.
The #Chiefs signed their kicker Harrison Butker to a contract extension, locking him in on a 5-year deal worth roughly $20M, source said. He’s on the books for 6 years total. Not bad for a player signed off the #Panthers practice squad.

I was extremely happy when my Panthers drafted Butker in 2017, I am now very mad that they cut him from the practice squad. Not just because he’s a Jacket but because he’s a very good kicker, and his new deal is very well deserved.
