Georgia Tech Baseball: Jackets claim #3 National Seed

The Jackets will host Auburn, Coastal Carolina, and Florida A&M in the Atlanta Regional

In a season seemingly teeming with surprises for Tech, the NCAA Selection Committee has awarded the Yellow Jackets the #3 national seed in the NCAA tournament.

This means that if Georgia Tech advances past the Regional round, Russ Chandler Stadium will also play host to a Super Regional. Whoever comes out of the Chapel Hill Regional will come to the Thunderdome the Rusty C to face the Jackets a best-of-3 series to determine who advances to Omaha and the College World Series. Tech was last named a national seed and Super Regional host in 2010.

This seeding may (and probably will) come as a surprise to many — while D1Baseball had Tech as high as the #6 national seed, other outlets (like Baseball America) had the Jackets just outside the national seeds.

Tech’s opponents in the Atlanta Regional will be 2-seed Auburn (33-25), 3-seed Coastal Carolina (35-24-1), and 4-seed Florida A&M (27-32). First pitch versus FAMU will be at 7pm EDT on Friday, May 31 (TV coverage on ESPN family of networks).
