Georgia Tech Athletics has announced a partnership with AMB Sports & Entertainment and Peach Bowl, Inc. that will see five games previously scheduled to be held at Bobby Dodd Stadium moved to Mercedes-Benz Stadium downtown. The partnership calls for one game per year from 2020-2024 to be played in the Benz, and includes the 2022 game vs. Clemson, which will be played on Labor Day as part of that year’s Chick-fil-A Kickoff, and games vs. Notre Dame in 2020 and 2024. The opponents for the 2021 and 2023 games have yet to be determined, but are likely to be ACC opponents. The Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate games for those years are not eligible for this arrangement and will be held in Bobby Dodd Stadium as scheduled.
Per athletics, all games will be included in Georgia Tech season ticket holder packages. All games except for the 2022 Chick-fil-A Kickoff will be considered home games for Tech, with Tech to receive a larger ticket allotment in the Kickoff game than in the previous one vs. Tennessee in 2017.
Full details of the arrangement can be found at GT Athletics’ official announcement page. We’ll be back with our own thoughts on this news a bit later; meanwhile, what do you all think of your new home away from home?
