What a big day for Geoff Collins and his coaching staff. They picked up two key commitments yesterday, just one week before the early signing period. Jared Ivey and Emmanuel Johnson, both defensive ends, are the latest commits of Tech’s 2020 class. Rated as a four-star recruit, Ivey’s commitment gives Tech its fifth four-star recruit of the 2020 class. Johnson is a three-star recruit who hails from the same high school as current Tech wide-receiver Adonicas Sanders. With the commitments, Tech is now ranked 22nd according to 247Sports.com. Welcome to The Flats!
Earlier in the season it was reported that Yellow Jackets basketball player Kristian Sjolund would redshirt this season. This article reports the news that Sjolund has now put his name into the transfer portal. He will still have two and a half seasons of eligibility. Understandably, this is part of college sports, and players come and go. Regardless, good luck to him wherever his journey takes him next.
It was already reported in yesterday’s Tidbits, but I thought I’d include this article as it pointed out an interesting nugget. With its win over Liberty University, the Georgia Tech volleyball team advances to its first semifinals of the NIVC. Congratulations and best of luck to the volleyball team!
This is a great piece on former Yellow Jacket baseball player Carter Hall. He’s had to face some adversity and hardship since his injury and the recovery that followed. While he couldn’t play baseball anymore, it’s clear that baseball is an important part of his life and he hopes to remain involved in the game. It looks like he’ll be doing just that.
In case you’re planning on attending any of the Yellow Jackets basketball games and haven’t gotten your tickets yet, this might be a great time to purchase them. The ACC Packs seem like a great way to ensure you get in on some of the more exciting games Tech has ahead of it this season. These are, of course, are for Tech’s home games.
