Around the ACC: Week 12 Recap

It was a week filled with blowouts

NCAA Football: Louisville at North Carolina State Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

North Carolina - 27 | Pitt - 34 (OT)

Probably the best game of the week, two of the top teams in the Coastal let this one go down to the absolute wire. At one point, Pitt held a two-touchdown lead, but the Sam Howell-led Tar Heels offense fought their way back to take it into overtime. The Pitt defense held strong, though, and kept the Heels out of the endzone in overtime.

North Carolina plays again Saturday against Mercer. Pitt plays again Saturday at Virginia Tech.

Alabama State - 12 | Florida State - 49

This game was a little close for a while, with the Noles only having a 21-12 lead during the third quarter, but they were able to take control through the rest of the second half. Florida State is now 2-0 and bowl eligible since Willie Taggart was fired. James Blackman had a big day through the air, passing for 246 yards and three touchdowns as part of the Noles’ 522-yard offensive performance.

Florida State is on a bye this week.

Wake Forest - 3 | Clemson - 52

Clemson held Wake Forest to 93 yards of offense this season. I’m not sure I need to say much else.

Wake Forest plays again Saturday against Duke. Clemson is on a bye this week.

Virginia Tech - ERROR | Georgia Tech - ERROR

Huh...that’s weird. I can’t seem to find any record that a game between these two teams was played today.

Virginia Tech plays again Saturday against Pitt. Georgia Tech plays again Thursday against NC State.

Syracuse - 49 | Duke - 6

lol

Syracuse plays again Saturday at Louisville. Duke plays again Saturday at Wake Forest.

Louisville - 34 | NC State - 20

This game started off pretty interesting as the Wolfpack led 10-7 at the half, but a 20-point third quarter from Louisville quickly put the game out of reach. The Cardinals were able to pull out the victory thanks to three NC State turnovers and four touchdown passes from Lousiville’s Macale Cunningham.

Louisville plays again Saturday against Syracuse. NC State plays again Thursday at Georgia Tech.

Despite going up against the best team in the ACC, NC State gets this week’s #goacc Moment of the Week for this little blocking snafu, even though Clemson did help it come to pass.
