Employees impacted by the shutdown will get a chance to watch the Jackets play free of charge.

Georgia Tech has joined a number of schools from around the country in offering federal employees impacted by the ongoing government shutdown free tickets to a handful of upcoming Georgia Tech basketball games.

The employees are invited to attend three games: women’s basketball vs. Syracuse on Sunday (the 20th), men’s basketball vs. Notre Dame on Tuesday (the 22nd), and women’s basketball vs. NC State next Sunday (the 27th). If you’re a federal employee, all you’ll need to do is show up with a your valid federal government ID to redeem up to two tickets per game.

The offer is reminiscent of Tech’s offers from the fall of 2017, when Georgia Tech Athletics offered free admission for the Jacksonville State game to all families fleeing Hurricane Irma, and this past fall when the same offer was made for the Duke game to evacuees of Hurricane Michael.

Georgia Tech’s women’s basketball team currently stands at 12-6 while the men’s team stands at 10-7, with both looking to rebound from road losses at Clemson earlier this week.
