After a heartbreaker midweek versus #9 Virginia Tech, the Yellow Jackets dominated the Syracuse Orange in the Carrier Dome, 73-59. After an initial five minutes that saw both teams score less than 10 points combined, the Georgia Tech offense picked up steam over the course of the first half, taking a slim 27-26 lead just before halftime and never letting go. Led by the efforts of forward Oshae Brissett (who scored 15 points), Syracuse tried to climb back in the game during the second half but was unable to generate points and momentum versus the once-again steely Yellow Jacket defense. With the win, Tech posted its first win in the Carrier Dome and moved to 3-1 versus the Orange under coach Josh Pastner.

Jose Alvarado was once again the catalyst for the Yellow Jacket offense, leading Tech in scoring with 19 points (and most notably, three-for-three from three-point range). Curtis Haywood III, James Banks, and Abdoulaye Gueye also put up double-digit point totals, all shooting over 60% from the field. Evan Cole also provided a solid performance off the bench, putting up eight points along with two assists. While Tech gave up 22 turnovers, Syracuse struggled to do anything with them, going 31.6% from the field and 21.2% from the three-point range (compared to Tech forcing 18 turnovers and shooting 59.5% from the field and 50% from three-point range, respectively).
