OLB Chico Bennett, Jr. is commitment No. 10

We’ve hit double digits for the cycle with the commitment of a very talented linebacker.

Georgia Tech received commitment No. 10 of the recruiting cycle on Saturday when linebacker Chico Bennett announced his intentions to play football for Paul Johnson. Bennett’s is the latest commitment in the recent flurry which has included announcements from quarterback Jordan Yates, quarterback Demetrius Knight, and others over the past two weeks.

A three-star prospect out of Franklin, TN and Battle Ground Academy, Bennett is a top-100 outside linebacker prospect and a top-40 player from the state of Tennessee. He is the latest recruiting success for ace recruiter Andy McCollum, the man responsible for bringing on four-star prospects James Graham and Jaylon King last season and three-star prospect Ahdarrious Gee this year.

Bennett chose Tech over one of the most impressive offer lists we’ve seen from a Tech commit for this cycle; he boasted offers from Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt among others.

Today marks the beginning of a dead period which will last until early August, when face-to-face meetings between coaches and prospects are allowed to resume. Expect Bennett to be the last commitment between now and that time as the team hones in on preparation for the season.

Congratulations to Chico Bennett, Jr. and his family on his commitment!
