Technical Tidbits 5/18: Summer is coming way too fast

Things happened this week, I promise

MLS: Atlanta United FC at Orlando City SC
Look, it’s May, I can pretty much put anything as the lead image.

Elite! Elite! Elite! Do you keep up with Georgia Tech’s only NCAA championship winning program? Of course you, but they were up late last night (so late there wasn’t a story on it at the time of this writing), so I’ll bring you up to speed. Women’s tennis won a squeaker over Pepperdine in the eleventh hour to advance to the Elite Eight. They’ll take on UCLA Sunday at 4 p.m.

Yes, there’s a cool hat again. Y’all all like baseball, right? (Don’t lie, I see all of you adding tildes over the Ns in your name on Twitter.)

That doesn’t even make sense. You’d never put a tilde over a terminating N. How would you say that? I’m the only one who cares about this, aren’t I?

Anyway, if you do, there is good news for you, as the Smyrna Atlanta Braves are hosting another Georgia Tech night at Cobb County Taxpayer Stadium SunTrust Park on Friday, June 15. And if you don’t, you still have to admit those are some pretty sweet looking hats.

What’s going on with baseball? It’s almost award-naming season in college baseball, and catcher Joey Bart has been named a semifinalist for both the Johnny Bench (most outstanding catcher) and Dick Howser (top player) awards. Whatever happens, that kid’s going places. As for the now, the team is actually still playing a game vs. Duke as I type this, which is, uh, pretty late. They’re supposed to finish the regular season with games today and tomorrow, but that all depends on the weather. Supposedly the director of the marching band has weather control powers; someone should let him know baseball would really like to get these two in.

Countdown to the end of the Russell Athletic contract: 44 days.
