Technical Tidbits 5/11: Can we get ‘Taps’ for the white helmets too?

A video of a Taco Bell vigil gets thousands of upvotes; how many for our boys in white?

It has many uses! If you’re like me, you were a big fan of the white helmets Tech sported a lot over the past few seasons ever since they debuted in the 2012 Labor Day game against Virginia Tech. (If you’re not like me..... just move on to the next story, I guess?

Unfortunately, they are not long for this world. As the honeycombed helmets were a product of the Russellian Era of uniforms, they are being retired, likely to be replaced by similar yet slightly different looking white helmets once adidas takes charge. The good news is you can buy one, assuming you are a current football season ticket holder or have a spare grand laying around. And that’s just to be eligible: the helmets themselves will still run you a cool $600. But that’s a small price to pay to finish out your Justin Thomas cosplay.

Though let’s be honest: for most of y’all it’s probably closer to a Logan Walls cosplay.

Finally, some good offseason news. Y’all know how we were all hoping how OL Jack DeFoor would be ruled immediately eligible after transferring from Ole Miss because of...... all that stuff that happened at Ole Miss? Well, for possibly the only time in our lives, our hopes have come true! This is especially good news considering the depth at O-line, which had just taken another hit due to the medical retirement of Jake Stickler. DeFoor will have three years of eligibility remaining and has a decent chance to start in the fall.

I’m in Nashville. Did y’all know this place is a popular spot for bachelorette parties? Wild.

Countdown to the end of the Russell Athletic contract: 51 days.
