Happy May! We’re going quick hits today because there’s a lot of stuff and I’m a bit pressed for time writing this.
Xzavion Curry earns ACC Pitcher of the Week Honors: For the second time this season, sophomore pitcher Xzavion Curry was named ACC Pitcher of the Week. Curry pitched a 2-hit, complete-game shutout of Wake Forest on Friday, tying his career-high with 12 strikeouts. Behind Curry’s outstanding efforts, the Jackets beat the Deacons 7-0.
Connor Thomas named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball: Not to take anything away from Curry’s performance but his ACC Pitcher of the Week win was a bit of surprise after teammate Connor Thomas’s Saturday outing. Thomas struck out 17 in a 5-1 complete-game win. For his efforts, Thomas was named one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week.
Wreck the vote: Thomas could add a couple of fan-voted awards to the Collegiate Baseball honors this week. He is up for the HERO Sports HERO of the Week and the Golden Spikes Performance of the Week. I’m not going to force you to vote for Thomas but if you want to stuff the ballot box, I won’t stop you.

Tristin English Impresses Scouts: Though he didn’t quite post the numbers his rotation-mates did, Sunday starter Tristin English nonetheless impressed the scouts over at Perfect Game. The scouts specifically mentioned English’s “clean and athletic delivery” and his ability to “[get] downhill fairly effectively.”
Will He Stay or Will He Go?: With the NBA fate of sophomore star Josh Okogie still up in the air, Josh Pastner and the Yellow Jacket coaching staff find themselves in a bit of a bind in efforts to fill Okogie’s scholarship spot should he chose to enter the draft. Okogie has until May 30th to officially declare, at which point most impact transfers will be off the market. (Article is myAJC and may be behind a paywall).
A Step Towards the Pros: Finally, former Yellow Jacket DB Step Durham received an invitation to the Tennessee Titans’ rookie mini-camp as he tries to make his NFL dreams come true. Durham joins 7 other former Jackets who signed UDFA deals or received mini-camp invites on Sunday.
