What’s cooler than cool? Any day I have an excuse to talk about hockey is a good day, and today just happens to be such a day. Georgia Tech hockey made their first appearance at the ACHA division III South Regional a couple weeks ago, upsetting South Florida and UNC-Wilmington to earn a spot in the National tournament in Columbus, Ohio. The Jackets play Air Force, Central Michigan, and George Mason in pool play over the span of March 13-15, with the winner clinching a semifinal spot. All games are being played at the OhioHealth Chiller North rink in Columbus, so if you’re local and not working any of those days.... check it out, maybe?
See you on some other channel. Many an observation has been made regarding the lack of Justin Moore on our TV screens this basketball season. That question should pop up far less next season - not because Moore is expected to feature more prominently in next year’s team, but because he’s transferring and thus won’t be seen at all. Thanks for your time here at the Flats, Justin, and good luck at whatever the future has in store for you.
You’re my favorite deputy. Something an extra degree removed from Tech-related news but still very important - longtime UNC radio voice Woody Durham passed away Wednesday at 76. We’re all likely a bit more familiar with the work of his son, Wes, who despite the tragedy has continued to call this year’s ACC basketball tournament, as Woody did many times himself. See ya in the radio booth in the sky, buddy.
Hey y’all, did you know it’s soccer season?
