Welcome to From the Rumble Seat’s weekly look at the Yellow Jackets in professional basketball.
National Basketball Association:
Derrick Favors - Utah Jazz: Minutes were up in the last two games but production down across the board for Derrick Favors in this trade-deadline week. However, previously, he had been playing quite well. The lull seems to be one of the natural swings of the course of the season and his intangibles seem solid. The big man, who had rumors swirling around him for the better part of the new year, ultimately stayed with the Jazz. His team remains in tenth in the Western Conference despite having won their last eight in a row, and nine of their last ten, their only fault being falling in Atlanta to the Hawks almost three weeks ago.
Marcus Georges-Hunt - Minnesota Timberwolves: Georges-Hunt has returned to minimal playing time. Literally playing the minimum, as in one minute the entire week. However, the Timberwolves are in fourth in the Western Conference, so he’s playing minimally for a pretty decent team. Georges-Hunt, with his guaranteed contract, still receives his paychecks from the big-league club even as he sees less action.
Jarrett Jack - New York Knicks: Had a better week this week, seeing relatively normal playing time and producing around his average of late. In what seems to be this week’s theme, his Knicks were defeated by the Hawks earlier in the week. The team has slipped to eleventh in the Eastern Conference during a five game skid, including a loss at home featuring this.
Iman Shumpert - Sacramento Kings: Hasn’t played, but got traded from Cleveland out to the west coast with Joe Johnson right before the deadline. The new King has not played all week but surely must take time to settle into his new digs out in California.
Thaddeus Young - Indiana Pacers: Young finished Friday’s contest in Boston with a double-double, which is an easy way to convey to the public that he played pretty well. In 34 minutes, he reeled in more rebounds than he scored points, and added a steal to boot. The rest of the week featured more balanced stats, but Young has always been a nice all-around outlet and force on the floor. The Pacers remain in sixth place after a .500 week that featured a game postponed due to a leaky roof in New Orleans. Young and Jack face off Sunday in a nice matchup of former Tech talent.

Surprised Shumpert got traded? My predictions never come true, but, what do you know, that one turned out to be surprisingly good. And is anyone out on the West Coast to go see him?
