Welcome to From the Rumble Seat’s weekly look at the Yellow Jackets in professional basketball.
National Basketball Association:
Derrick Favors - Utah Jazz: Favors continues his solid play of late, coming a single rebound shy of a double-double in his first game, but redeeming himself right away in the next one. His stats in the two games, both wins for the 10th place Utah Jazz, were nearly identical, and higher on nearly every front as of late. Though it’s impossible to predict exactly how he would’ve fared had he been traded, but whoever passed in trade talks missed a player having a nice little string of production.
Marcus Georges-Hunt - Minnesota Timberwolves: The most recent Pro Jacket was back on the Flats in a much more low-key form than Chris Bosh for the loss to Clemson. Against the Hawks in Atlanta, he played just four minutes. His time on the court has trailed off this week, after a massive spike last week. That said, his minutes still are better than he was seeing just two or three weeks ago.
Jarrett Jack - New York Knicks: Jack’s week, in one word, could probably be described as “pedestrian.” His shooting was fairly inaccurate and he combined, in three games, to put up just 10 points on just 25% shooting, playing slightly fewer minutes than he had been previously. In the meantime, the Knicks sit in 10th in the East after a pedestrian week of their own. They do, however, host the Hawks on Sunday, for local Atlanta fans wanting extra incentive to tune into a game pitting the East’s 10th and 15th place teams.
Iman Shumpert - Cleveland Cavaliers: After getting into a game for six minutes last week, Shumpert has spent the subsequent four games back on the shelf. Apparently the Cavaliers are trying to ease him back into the rotation. Seems quite the long ease, if you will.
Thaddeus Young - Indiana Pacers: Young has continued his solid play of late, with his best game in recent weeks coming the 27th against the lowly Orlando Magic, where he had 20 points and six rebounds in 37 minutes on the court. His playing time in general has been up, as well as his assists and steals. With the long arc of the season, it’s only natural for these numbers to ebb and flow but it is never bad to see some of the other facets of his game look good. Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers remain in 6th place despite their recent three game winning streak.

Think Shumpert will get traded? That seems to be the hot stove chatter as late. Or, rather, are the Cavaliers just treating the healing knee with a little extra caution?
