Could it be....? For days now we’ve been awaiting the sight of white and gold smoke emerging from the whistle, indicating Georgia Tech’s new head coach has been found. Well, it appears today may indeed be that day, as accounts are pointing to Temple’s Geoff Collins being named the 20th head coach of the Yellow Jackets. The next couple of seasons on the Flats will prove to be interesting as the program transitions, so buckle up, everyone; we’re in for a rid.
“Okay, but you need to sell me on him.” I dunno, man, after reading up on him, I feel like he sells himself. Not like that. You know what I meant. While I was personally a huge fan of Paul Johnson’s curmudgeonliness, many of you weren’t, so you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn Collins brings the swag to his football teams. If you don’t like the sound of that either, it sounds like you may be unpleaseable, in which case I would advise you to find a new hobby.
As for me, I’m going to miss the option. I’ll miss the deception, and having a ton of RBs in the back field, and not having to know what a tight end is. A lot of people complained it was boring; I would passionately disagree, but that’s for another time. SB Nation’s own Bill Connelly loves it, and he worked with Matt Brown to detail its long history in college football. It’s a lot more than just the flexbone, and well worth your time.
See you all at the MLS Cup tomorrow!
