James Banks Granted Medical Hardship Waiver

The basketball team got some very good news yesterday afternoon as they prepared to take on Tennessee when Forward/Center James Banks was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA due to a medical hardship waiver. The Texas transfer is originally from the Atlanta area, and figures to significantly help the team this season. He played 16 minutes last night against Tennessee, scoring five points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Men’s Basketball Drops Road Opener in Knoxville

The Georgia Tech men’s basketball team lost its road opener to Tennessee 66-53 last night, and offense was a struggle for most of the game. Brandon Alston led the way with 16 points on 4-8 shooting from the field and 8-8 shooting at the free throw line, but nobody else scored more than eight points. Tech as a whole shot just 27.6% from the field and 15.8% from three point range, and managed to go an entire 40 minutes and only accrue five assists. The Jackets are back in action at home on Friday night at 7:30 against East Carolina.

Football Uniforms for Saturday Unveiled

The football team will wear its standard home uniform on Saturday when they welcome in the Virginia Cavaliers, featuring gold helmets, white/gold tops, and gold pants.
