Georgia Tech announced a plan for a $4.5M locker room renovation on Tuesday.
The new locker room will feature enhanced audio-visual displays, a “gear wall” with Tech’s new Adidas apparel and a hydrotherapy area featuring hot and cold tubs among other improvements. Each individual locker will also be equipped with ventilation systems for gear and charging stations for athletes’ devices.
Georgia Tech’s locker room has been due for an upgrade for quite some time and this new space should be a valuable asset in recruiting.
The project is being funded by an anonymous donor and will be completed before the Yellow Jackets begin fall camp in August.
Harrison Butker was named to the PFWA’s 2017 All-Rookie Team on Tuesday.
Butker’s 38 made field goals and 23 consecutive made field goals both set Chiefs franchise records, despite Butker not having joined the team until Week 4.
Butker was named AFC Special Teams player of the Month for both October and December, becoming the first rookie kicker to win the award multiple times in one season since it began in 1986.
