Yellow Jackets Beat Pitt in Huge Road Win

NCAA Basketball: Georgia Tech at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia Tech Wins Big At Pitt, Now Third In The ACC

Georgia Tech started their game at Pitt by going up 22-1. They let the Panthers back into it for a little while before slamming the door in the second half. This was a career day for Abdoulaye Gueye who ended up with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Ben Lammers was also solid with 11 points and 16 rebounds as Pitt had no recourse for the size of GT. Georgia Tech grab an offensive rebound on more than 50% of their misses. This win brings the Jackets to 3-1 in the ACC which is third place, just behind Virginia and Clemson. Next they host #3 Virginia at McCamish on Thursday for what should be an incredibly hyped game.

Josh Pastner Sues Ron Bell For Defamation, Fraud, and Extortion

Remember Ron Bell? He was the guy who had a falling out with Josh Pastner and admitted to giving impermissible benefits to Tadric Jackson and Josh Okogie that led to their suspension. Now, Pastner is suing Bell and his girlfriend Jennifer Pendley for allegedly starting “a malicious campaign to defame Pastner, and to extort and blackmail Pastner” by threatening to release false accusations including an accusation of sexual assault. The lawsuit is taking place in Arizona where Bell and Pendley live.

Woody Looks To Bring More Aggressive Play Style

It’s almost a a cliche for a new defensive coach talks about how they want the team to play more aggressive. This time though it’s likely to be true. Ted Roof’s defenses were near the bottom in things like sacks, tackles for loss, and turnovers that tend to correlate with defensive aggression while Nate Woody’s Appalachian State teams were near the top. His new 3-4 will move a lot of players around from Roof’s 4-2-5 defense, but it should give the front 7 a lot more ability to make plays. In this article, Woody also talks a little about how he believes his recruiting experience at Wofford and Appalachian State will translate to GT.
