Technical Tidbits 1/12: It’s not real without a contract, hockey!

NOW THAT FOOTBALL IS OVER I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY SATURDAYS

THIS IS A HOCKEY BLOG NOW

I’m sure everyone on the internet will be fine with this. Paul Johnson’s last contract extension came in 2014, after an Orange Bowl championship season, and had him contracted through the 2020 season. That’s about to change.

Look how much Paul Johnson cares about your opinions. Look.

The extension would have Paul Johnson here through 2022; please restrict your moaning to the comments, I’m not responsible for what happens if someone emails me about this.

Down by the river I shot the puck. This weekend brings us the 20th edition of the Savannah Hockey Classic, an annual tournament(ish) featuring the ACHA D-3 hockey clubs of Florida, FSU, georgia, and, of course, Georgia Tech. I’m fairly confident in saying it’s the biggest hockey event in the state of Georgia. The winner takes home the prized Thrasher Cup; Tech has won the Cup a record seven times, but are hoping to win for the first time since 2012. The Ice Jackets will face off against FSU Friday at 6 PM and against the hated Bulldogs Saturday at 8:30 PM; all games will be at the Savannah Civic Center. It’s a long weekend for most of you, and it’s the perfect excuse to get drunk in - I mean enjoy the sights of - the lovely Savannah Historic District, so go cheer on Atlanta’s only hockey team, why don’t ya?

38 years. And counting.....
