In the wake of upcoming Hurricane Irma, the Georgia Tech Athletic Department has announced that all residents of evacuated areas who will be calling Atlanta home for the immediate future are being offered free admittance into Georgia Tech’s home opener versus Jacksonville State.

If you are a resident of an area that is currently under an evacuation order, all you need to do is show up with a valid state-issued ID from an effected area to the Brittain Dining Hall lawn starting at 9:30 on Saturday morning.

For those unfamiliar with the area, the Brittain Dining Hall lawn is less than a 10 minute walk from the North Avenue MARTA station and is located directly across the street from Bobby Dodd Stadium. Walking directions can be found by following this link.

Good for Georgia Tech president Bud Peterson, athletic director Todd Stansbury, and head coach Paul Johnson for making such an effort to accommodate and welcome the many thousands of evacuees who will reside in Atlanta during Hurricane Irma’s lifespan and afterwards. An introduction to Atlanta sports fandom may not be the healing salve that people need right now, but college sports is a great way to distract from the events that are unfolding in Florida and elsewhere.

Welcome to Atlanta, Florida and South Carolina residents! Please join us in the comments section if you want to get involved with the pregame festivities on the site.
