In addition to being selected for the All-Star game, Charlie Blackmon (aka Chuck Nazty aka The Bearded Wonder) will be participating in the 2017 Home Run Derby. The former Yellow Jacket has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball this season.
The power-hitting center fielder enters the break with 18 home runs, sporting a .312 batting average, and with a WAR of 2.1.
Despite only adding 2 points from the bench in their last game, Okogie and the U.S. team finish group play at 3-0. They will play Mali, the last place finisher in Group C, this morning at 9:30. The winner will play the victor of New Zealand and Germany in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Okogie is the first active Tech player to make a U.S. roster in over 20 years.

The team looks to have solidified a spot in the playoffs while they head into the international break. Their next and final game and Bobby Dodd is July 30th. If you haven’t made it to one yet, we would highly encourage you to attend this last game at Bobby Dodd before it moves to the giant, probably-still-incomplete, sterile spaceship down the street.
They’ve sold out every home game, and the energy is always electric. The pitch barely fits inside the stadium. We’re going to miss having ATLUD around campus, so make sure to mark July 30th on your calendars.
