Technical Tidbits 6/9: Forever Young, promotions!, the offseason has arrived

It’s a nice day.

NFL: Carolina Panthers at Washington Redskins

Former Tech cornerback Louis Young signed with Washington yesterday after a successful workout with them on Wednesday. Young spent the past three seasons with the Carolina Panthers, with most of that time being on the practice squad, but he did play in six games last season, recording his only tackle against the team he just signed to. Washington makes for the fifth NFL team Young has signed a contract with; hopefully he’s finally found his football forever home.

Women’s basketball graduate manager Jonneshia Pineda has been promoted to assistant coach, coach MaChelle Joseph announced yesterday. Pineda had previously served as a video coordinator intern in 2013 and handled a variety of tasks over the past two years as a graduate manager.

The Running Jackets had representation in this year’s NCAA outdoor track and field championships, with Avery Bartlett competing in the men’s 800m run and Jeanine Williams in the women’s 100m hurdles; however, neither were able to advance to the finals in their event. Their exit brings the track season - and the Georgia Tech athletics season as a whole - to a close. It’s eleven long weeks until things start back up with volleyball, y’all. We’ll get through this together.

In the meantime, you could check out this soccer thing that’s been happening. I hear it’s pretty lit.
