Stewart Cink qualified for the U.S. Open on Monday, becoming the third Yellow Jacket who will compete in this year’s tournament. Matt Kuchar and Roberto Castro are the other former Jackets who will play in the U.S. Open. Cink has four career victories on the PGA Tour and will be competing in his 20th U.S. Open.

Charles Isbell was named the new Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) by AD Todd Stansbury on Tuesday.

The FAR serves as the liaison between the Institute and the Athletic Association on issues regarding rules compliance, developments at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and activities related to Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) membership. The position was previously held by Reginald DesRoches, the Karen and John Huff Chair and professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, who is leaving Georgia Tech in July to assume the role of dean of engineering at Rice University.

Hopefully this new hire will better help the athletic department connect with the faculty at Georgia Tech and promote a positive environment.
