On 680 The Fan’s “Chuck and Chernoff” on Tuesday, co-host Chuck Oliver said, “I don’t know that I’ve ever said this about a team before - Georgia Tech could go 4-0 in non-conference or they could go 0-4.”
Oliver went on to explain how he felt Georgia Tech needs to schedule games like its season opener against Tennessee to gain national attention and generate more buzz around the program. But now that Tech is set to play Tennessee, UCF (on the road), Jacksonville State and Georgia, Oliver said he isn’t sure it’s going to work out for the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia Tech does have a difficult schedule both out of and within the ACC this season. It’s easy to voice uncertainty over the schedule now, but we will know much more come Labor Day. If the Jackets are able to navigate their non-conference schedule, though, it could set up a pretty special season on The Flats.
Josh Okogie made it past the first round of cuts and became a finalist for the USA U19 team which will compete in the FIBA World Cup in Egypt next month. 26 players went to Colorado Springs, Colo. to try out, and the roster now stands at 18 players. the roster will be cut to 12 before it is finalized.
Okogie has impressed the coaches thus far by making plays like this one.
