Technical Tidbits 5/22: Vegas Disrespect?

The Yellow Jacket’s Win Over/Under Was Released

NCAA Football: Georgia Tech at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Vegas Slots Tech’s Season Wins at 6.5

This at first look seems somewhat low for Georgia Tech. Yes, the Jackets lost Justin Thomas, but they return a whole boatload on both sides of the ball. Once you think about it, there are some reasons to see Tech winning around 6-7 games. The Jackets won 8 regular season games in 2016. But in 2017 they face a more difficult OOC schedule with Tennessee at the new Falcons stadium and a road game at UCF both very lose-able games in addition to the home game against UGA. You would hope that the Jackets would make up for these chances by doing better than last season in a weaker ACC Coastal division, but Vegas predicts the Jackets to have fewer wins than any other Coastal teams except Duke and Virginia. We’ll see if the Jackets can prove them wrong.

Jackets Baseball Drops Final Two To #8 Virginia

After taking the series opener against a fantastic Cavalier team on Thursday, the Yellow Jackets dropped the final two over the weekend. On Friday, UVA crushed GT 16-3. The Senior Day game on Saturday was much closer as the Cavs just edged the Jackets 10-9. Next, the Jackets look ahead towards the ACC Tournament where they have games against Miami and Wake Forest. The Jackets need to win both to advance to the next round. Should they lose both, this will be the first losing season for Georgia Tech baseball since 1981.

Women’s Tennis Falls in Round of 16

The #8 Yellow Jackets fell in a heartbreaking match to #9 Oklahoma State. It came down to the final match as the Jackets fell 4-3 to the Cowboys. 6 Georgia Tech players, led by singles players Rasheeda McAdoo and Johnnise Renaud, will continue on in the individual (and doubles) tournament.
