The NCAA is kind and good and just. The NCAA is love, the NCAA is life. Assistant men’s basketball coach Darryl LaBarrie was placed on leave two weeks ago as Georgia Tech and the NCAA investigated an alleged recruiting violation against him. Two weeks later..... there’s still an investigation, and no other news.
The above is AJC paywalled content, so if you can’t read it..... well, the basic jist is there’s no real update at this time. Compliance and recruiting director Julian Swartz has been LaBarrie’s replacement in the interim. Knowing the NCAA, I’m sure this is due for a prompt conclusion with a fair result.
Florida man rides successful Twitter campaign to become fast-casual bowl mascot. Ever since he can remember, it’s been SB Nation writer Ryan Nanni’s dream to be the Bloomin’ Onion mascot at the Outback Bowl. This week, he came one very big step closer to making that dream a reality. All he has to do is not fall into any manholes and keep an eye out for falling pianos over the next three-ish weeks and his childhood dream will finally come true! For the record, my early-season prediction this all ends poorly for Nanni is still in play.
If you’re dealing with finals next week... uh, good luck with that. The good news is they can’t take forever, right?
