Shumpert is on the shelf for the foreseeable future

Welcome to From the Rumble Seat’s weekly look at how the current crop of Yellow Jackets in professional basketball are faring.

National Basketball Association:

Derrick Favors - Utah Jazz: With teammate Rudy Gobert returning from injury Monday night, Favors’ minutes are expected to drop. The center, who saw significant playing time and posted solid stats in Gobert’s absence, will still start for now but with an additional key piece back for the Jazz, the immediate playing time picture gets a little cloudier for Favors.

Marcus Georges-Hunt - Minnesota Timberwolves: Marcus Georges-Hunt saw no playing time this week, but continues along on the Timberwolves’ roster, who are reluctant to send him back down to Iowa, where he excelled in his one game played.

Jarrett Jack - New York Knicks: The veteran’s strong play has continued of late. Jack, whose presence on the Knicks’ roster at the beginning of the year was tenuous, has had a strong bounce-back season, and is currently 16th in assists, at 5.9 per game. With his injury history, he spent a lot of time in McCamish Pavilion last season, not in the arenas of the NBA, but, with his strong basketball intelligence, and continued health, he should look to continue guiding the Knicks to an improved season.

Iman Shumpert - Cleveland Cavaliers: Sadly, Iman Shumpert is unable to play after receiving arthroscopic knee surgery for fluid buildup in his left knee. The surgery, which was first delayed to see if the condition would improve on its own, was deemed necessary Tuesday and is a normal, expected step on his road to recovery, though it makes that road ever so much longer.

Thaddeus Young - Indiana Pacers: Monday night, Young had yet another strong outing as his Pacers downed Jack’s Knicks. Last night, against the Bulls, he came a rebound away from a double-double, while playing almost the full forty minutes. A leader of this year’s edition of the Pacers, ideally, he wouldn’t go 4-12 against an awful Bulls squad every night, but, other than that anomaly, he continues to put up his usual solid stat line.
