The secondary of the future got a nice boost today with the addition of cornerback Jaylen Jackson, a three-star prospect out of Brunswick, GA. Jackson becomes commitment No. 18 of the recruiting cycle and the second this month after C’Bo Flemister announced his decision two weeks ago.
I would like to thank God for giving this opportunity to play college ball at the next level Thanks everyone for all the support For the next 4 years I will be attending Georgia Tech @GTCoachOwens @GTRecruitNews @SouthernPigskin #Swarm18 pic.twitter.com/YLwpAHtd9U— Jaylen Jackson (@jaylenjackson02) December 20, 2017
Rated three stars by 247Sports and two stars by Rivals, Jackson chose Tech over reported offers from Cincinnati (to whom he had been committed since early October) and Wake Forest. His commitment comes on the day of the first ever early signing period, and Jackson has already signed his NLI with Georgia Tech to make it official.
Jackson will be one of many young options to replace Tech’s departing secondary, one which included senior cornerbacks Lance Austin, Lawrence Austin, Shaun Kagawa and Step Durham plus safety Corey Griffin. He is the third pure cornerback of the class, joining Zamari Walton and Juanyeh Thomas, though top-rated recruit Jaylon King also figures to play defense at the college level.
Congratulations to Jaylen and his family on his commitment and welcome to Georgia Tech!
