Gary Parrish of CBS Sports published the above story about Ron Bell, the man who says he provided the impermissible benefits for which Josh Okogie and Tadric Jackson have been suspended to begin the basketball season.
Bell and Pastner met during Pastner’s time at the University of Arizona and they remained friends as Pastner moved on to Memphis and Georgia Tech.
The violations stem from Bell giving Okogie and Jackson shoes and clothes in addition to a trip to his home in Arizona last summer.
The article also mentions Bell’s past as a drug addict and his four-year stint in prison as the result of a parole violation.
Bell also went on Parrish’s radio show yesterday and the results were... interesting. I will let Bell’s quotes speak for themselves and allow people to make their own determinations.
Bell talked for more than 30 minutes about his relationship with Pastner and Georgia Tech players and what made him come forward with this information now.
It is unclear what has made Bell turn on Pastner, who he regarded as a close friend for so many years. But Georgia Tech’s basketball team is bearing the brunt of the situation, with two of its best players suspended indefinitely.
