Georgia Tech has had many athletes who have impressed in their time on the Flats. We here at From the Rumble Seat decided to take a look at how the current crop of Yellow Jackets in professional basketball are faring, with the aim to keep you updated throughout the season.
National Basketball Association:
Derrick Favors - Utah Jazz: In the two Jazz games this week, the eight year veteran has scored 20 points a game in both winning efforts. His peripheral stats looked solid as well, with 5 blocks between the two games. The Jazz have won three straight, putting them back in the playoff picture, and continued strong play by the South Atlanta product will keep them there.
Marcus Georges-Hunt - Minnesota Timberwolves: Georges-Hunt has not so much as attempted a shot this week in the one minute of playing time he has been able to finagle, which came earlier tonight against the New Orleans Pelicans. Similar to a “AAAA” minor league baseball player, Georges-Hunt excels at the G-League level, but can’t seem to crack into a bigger role in the big league club.
Jarrett Jack - New York Knicks: The Knicks have played four games this week and Jack has played significant minutes in all of them. He dished out 14 assists in the game against the Atlanta Hawks, while scoring 10 points. His best game of the season came in the losing effort against the best team in the west, the Houston Rockets, where he scored 10 points, pulled in 5 rebounds, contributed 8 assists, and had a steal as well. The two games since have been unspectacular but he continues to play a regular role in his thirteenth year in the NBA.
Iman Shumpert - Cleveland Cavaliers: Shumpert makes his homecoming as his Cavaliers play the Hawks in the Phillips Arena tonight. Shumpert, however has seen extremely limited playing time the past week as he struggles with his return from knee injury. He was on the court 7 minutes in the win in Philadelphia, missing his only shot.
Thaddeus Young - Indiana Pacers: In what is a nice trend for Yellow Jacket alumni this week, Young also had his best game of the season this week against the Houston Rockets. His 23 points were not enough for the Pacers in the loss, a nice bounce-back from his disappointing game two nights before against the Orlando Magic. Young has has a solid season and his Pacers are in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference.

How are your favorite Jackets in the big leagues faring? Anyone in Europe that I missed? I’ll do my best to keep an eye on the European ones especially - overseas results are hard to come by.
