Pro Football Focus names Gray to ACC Defensive Team of the Week
For his play against Miami, A.J. Gray got a little bit of recognition this week. The safety has been one of the strongest players in the Yellow Jacket secondary this season, and we’re glad to see him get some recognition. He received a grade of 87.2, the highest of any ACC DB last week. This is the second time he has won the award, the first coming after his performance against UNC earlier this season.
Stansbury approves raises for football staff members
(Full article may be behind paywall). Coach Johnson has been pushing for raises for assistants for years, and it appears the athletic department finally approved them. On his radio show and various media outlets the last several season, Johnson has lamented that Tech was below the league average in what they paid their football assistants.
Much to the chagrin of the writers of this site, Ted Roof was extended another 2 years as well and was among the staff members given a raise.
“Was Georgia Tech’s defensive collapse in the final two minutes against Miami the result of poor play-calling, poor performance or just some bad luck?
The answer is yes on all three.”
