The Rolling Stones to Play Concert at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field

News broke this morning of the sites and dates for the Rolling Stones' summer tour, beginning May 24 at San Diego's Petco Park. Included in that news was a stop in Atlanta on June 9th, when they'll play at Georgia Tech's on-campus Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field. It will be the first concert at Bobby Dodd Stadium since Pink Floyd played there in 1994 and only the tenth ever.

The Rolling Stones have played there once before, when they were joined there by Living Colour in November 1989. Other artists to perform at Bobby Dodd Stadium include Yes (1974), Bob Seager & the Silver Bullet Band (1977), Heart (1977), Cheap Trick (1977), Foreigner (1977), The Doobie Brothers (1978), Aerosmith (1979), Simon & Garfunkel (1983), New Kids On The Block (1990), and Jimmy Buffett (1993).

The concert is considered the first "special event" that Bobby Dodd has hosted since 1996, when the movie "Eraser" had its premiere there during the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. The stadium also previously had hosted President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1935 and Nelson Mandela in 1990.

Tickets go on sale Monday, April 13 at 10 a.m. on www.ticketalternative.com and all their ticket outlets. Tickets will not be available through the Georgia Tech Ticket Office.
