Georgia Tech Recruiting: Meet the Recruits - AB KirVonte Benson

Our "Meet the Recruits" series continues today with another running back.

Georgia Tech Athletics

As a Recruit

KirVonte Benson became Georgia Tech's 22nd commitment on the Monday prior to Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. He committed to Tech as a three-star running back, as rated by both Rivals (5.5) and 247Sports (0.8126), over other reported offers from Duke and Kentucky. He'll join Tech out of Marietta High School, after being recruited by Tech's top recruiter Andy McCollum. Standing at 5'8" 190 lbs. Benson is likely to start off at A-back, but if he added some weight to his frame, he could easily make the transition to B-back.

Film

Benson is fast. Every clip from his film is evident of that fact. But what's great about him is that that isn't all he is. He shows great balance and is tough to bring down. He's also a good receiver out of the backfield. And if you don't keep an eye on him, he'll run right by you and make you look like a fool.

What to Expect

Benson's best chance to play this year is solely dependent on how well he picks up the blocking scheme. I only see one or two of our true freshmen playing at a-back this season, with the main four being Dennis Andrews, Broderick Snoddy, Qua Searcy and Isiah Willis. If he can pick up the blocking scheme well enough during Fall practice, he'll definitely see the playing field this season. Everything else is there. He just needs to show the coaching staff that he is willing and able to block when asked to do so.

Welcome to the Flats, KirVonte! Best of luck to you!
