Georgia Tech Recruiting: Meet the Recruits - CB Dante Wigley

Our "Meet the Recruits" series continues with one of my favorite signees.

Georgia Tech Athletics

As a Recruit

Dante Wigley became Tech's 13th commitment on the first day after the dead period ended. The reason? Well he saw some bum from Athens working out with the greatest wide receiver in the country (obviously Calvin Johnson) on his visit to the Flats. Wigley, a three-star (5.5 via Rivals; 0.8482 via 247Sports composite) corner coming from Carrollton High School in Carrollton, GA, committed to Tech over reported offers from Boston College, Cincinnati and Mississippi State, while also being rumored to receive interest from some P5 schools down the recruiting road.

Film

Standing at 6'1" 183 lbs. and running a 4.4 40-yard dash, Wigley is big and fast, which is film shows clearly. He has no problem in coverage or in run support. With his speed, he can match most of the receivers on which he is matched. He also does a great job of keeping his eye on the ball in coverage and run support. Probably one of my favorite plays was around the 1:05 mark where he just shoves off a blocker and blows up the screen play after starting about 10 yards off the line. He'll be a good one.

What to Expect

With DJ White and Chris Milton both returning, I don't foresee him playing very much this season. He'll definitely be in contention for playing time next season as a redshirt freshman after White and Milton are both gone. He'll be going up against Step Durham and the Austin twins for those two starting spots. Lynn Griffin may also make an impact there.

What are your thoughts on Wigley? When will he finally hit the field?
