Georgia Tech continued to show what they were made of Monday night as they beat the Tennessee Volunteers 69-67 in a game that the Jackets from last year probably would not have won. This team has already shown significant improvement from last year by being able to win some close games. We'll see if that continues tonight as the Jackets take on the Green Bay
Packers Phoenix to begin the NIT Season Tip-off.
While the Phoenix are 0-2, they have been very competitive in those two games. The lowest they've scored is 89 points, granted, that was in an overtime match with Stanford. The Phoenix do still pose a good offensive threat, though.
Leading the way in that offensive attack is senior guard Carrington Love. After averaging just 10 points a game while shooting while shooting 38 percent from the floor last year, Love has shown tremendous improvement and is now averaging 27 points in the two games this season while averaging 43.8 percent from the floor. The high-scoring rate gets a lot of help from him shooting 9-of-15 from the three-point line. Those nine shots are more than any other player on the roster has even attempted from three.
The rest of the Phoenix's starters have been pretty good so far too. The lineup consists of Charles Cooper (14.5 ppg, 43.5 percent from the floor, 4.5 rpg), Jordan Fouse (8.5 ppg, 26.7 percent from the floor, 12 rpg) and Turner Botz (6.5 ppg, 27.3 percent from the floor, 3.5 rpg) at guard and Kenneth Lowe (13.5 ppg, 57.1 percent from the floor, 5.5 rpg) at forward.
