Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Tennessee Volunteers: How to Watch, Preview, Gamethread and More!

Come join us as the Yellow Jackets (1-0) take on the Tennessee Volunteers (1-0).

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

After an unexpected offensive explosion in the season opener against Cornell, the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech now face their first big test of the season: the Tennessee Volunteers.

Last season, Volunteers finished 16-16 and 7-11 in the SEC (good for 10th place) before not making any kind of appearance in the postseason. The end of last season was miserable, as the Volunteers lost six of their last seven before the season mercifully ended.

Gone from last year's team is the Vol's leading scorer Josh Richardson. Richardson averaged 16.0 points per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the floor.

In their first game against UNC-Asheville, the Vols didn't seem to miss Richardson too terribly much. They just had to find offense in other places. Specifically, that mainly came in the form of Kevin Punter. Punter played 35 minutes on the floor and scored 31 points for the Vols while shooting 10-of-14 from the floor and 3-of-6 from three.

We'll see if that continues. Last year, Punter was tied for second on the team with 10.3 points per game, while shooting just 41.9 percent from the floor.

Armani Reese and Derek Reese are also key contributors for the Vols. Last year, they averaged 10.3 and 6.0 points per game, respectively, but are also the returning leading rebounders at 6.8 and 5.3 per game, respectively. They both got off to a quick start this year with the rebounds, with each of them getting eight in their first game. Moore also added in 12 points.

The starting line-up for the Vols in their first game featured Punter, Moore and Reese, and also added in Robert Hubbs III and Devon Baulkman (20 and seven starts last year, respectively).
