HALFTIME REPORT: Yellow Jackets and Hokies tied up at 14

The Georgia Tech football team is not losing at halftime, and for that, we are thankful.

Things got going quickly for the good guys in some Thursday Night Football action between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Virginia Tech Hokies.

After a 9-yard rush by Marcus Allen to open the game, Justin Thomas found a wide open Ricky Jeune up the seam for a 58-yard gain down to the Virginia Tech 8-yard line. Allen ran it in for a 4-yard score two plays later.

A couple of possessions later, Tyler Marcordes forced a fumble that was recovered by Jamal Golden to give the Jackets the ball on the VT 45-yard line. The Jackets took the ball down the field on eight straight runs, and Clinton Lynch found the end zone on a 4-yard run to give GT the 14-0 lead.

The second quarter wasn't as good to the Jackets, as they were outgained 154-30 by the Hokies and held scoreless. Two touchdowns by Virginia Tech in the final six minutes -- including a 17-yard strike to Isaiah Ford with 35 seconds left -- tied the game at 14 heading into the locker rooms for halftime.

All in all, the Jackets have looked much more competitive than they were in Charlottesville as they look to notch the first win out of the three needed for bowl eligibility.
