Everything to know about Georgia Tech's improbable blocked FG return TD vs. Florida State

The "Miracle on Techwood Drive" ended the Seminoles dominance of the ACC and gave the Yellow Jackets a huge victory.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

When the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets improbably blocked the potentially game-winning field goal by normally ice-cold Florida State Seminoles kicker Roberto Aguayo, head coach Paul Johnson inititally waved his team away from the football.

"I go from yelling 'get away from it' to 'run, run, run," Johnson said.

Indeed, sophomore defensive back Lance Austin had other ideas, as did a bevy of teammates who escorted him down the sidelines and 78 yards for the touchown for what is being called the "Miracle on Techwood Drive."

And don't miss the call of the play, either:

"WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE," intoned ESPN's Mark Jones on the unbelievable return.

Austin's incredible return was only the latest in a series of decisive last-second special teams in a wild college football season and dealt Florida State its first ACC loss since 2012, a streak that included 28 straight victories and numerous late victories, as well as spanning 1,113 days.

This time it was Georgia Tech returning the favor and Johnson could only stick out his tongue in disbelief.

Given a few moments to collect himself, Johnson was stil at a loss for words.

"Wow. What a game, huh?"
