From the Rumble Seat Presents: Weekend Selections, Week 1

New, comments

After yesterday's return of over/unders, today marks the return of another contest -- this time featuring a prize!

Kevin C. Cox

With the opening of college football season on Thursday, it's time we start up another feature from last year, Weekend Selections! Like the Over/Unders, Weekend Selections are bigger and better this year!

This year, Weekend Selections will incorporate both the spread and straight-up picks for each game. As you go through this, you will select the winner of each game. In the case that you select the team favored, you will also be required to pick the margin by which they win. Players will be awarded two points for selecting the winner of each game and three points for picking against the spread. If the favorite wins and the margin of victory is equal to the spread (i.e. UCLA wins by 21, same as the spread), players who picked the favorite to win will be awarded the full 5 points. (In other words, treat the "greater than" and "less than" signs as if they were "greater than or equal to" and "less than or equal to" signs.) Any matchups featuring FCS teams will have a line of 35.5 points arbitrarily assigned to the ACC team involved.

Each week, we will be picking 10 games -- mostly ACC games, with a couple of nationally-relevant games thrown in. As you can see below, there are 14 games featuring ACC teams this weekend. Thus, we only listed Georgia Tech and ACC teams facing FBS opponents, along with Saturday night's game between Wisconsin and LSU.

The winner of this contest? You'll win eternal glory and a year of bragging rights. What more could you ask for?

Good luck, and happy picking!

All picks are due by kickoff of Thursday's Wake Forest-Louisiana Monroe game.
