Georgia Tech Football: Newbies to Watch For - DE KeShun Freeman

Today our "Newbies to Watch For" series introduces one player who enrolled early and could possibly contribute on the defensive line.

The 2014 Georgia Tech football team is looking for a few good new men on the defensive side of the ball this season, particularly on the defensive line.

There was a lot of improvement in Georgia Tech's defense last year. Defensive Coordinator Ted Roof in his first year managed to rescue Tech's defense from being insignificant to being respectable but there is still plenty of work to do. Tech's defensive depth took a hit when Elucid Cummings, Emmanuel Dieke, and Jeremiah Attaochu departed for the NFL. A lot of Tech fans were expecting GMC transfer Kenderius Whitehead to step into the role of Attaochu and make an immediate impact but news surfaced Thursday that he will have to sit out one year. Tech will have to give some new guys a look this season to help fill in at defensive line. One young man in particular, KeShun
Freeman, enrolled early to get a head start to see if he can contribute this fall.

KeShun Freeman is apart of the 2014 recruiting class. Freeman had offers all over the country: Clemson, Boston College, Miami, Stanford, Tennessee, and Harvard all had offers for Freeman. He played both inside linebacker and defensive end at Callaway, High School in Hogansville, Ga. In his senior season, Freeman recorded 153 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, four forced fumbles, three sacks and three blocked kicks. At 6'1, 234 lbs this young man has the tools to be very successful in Ted Roof's defense.

Folks, KeShun Freeman is a stud. When you watch him on tape, he is moving linemen out of the way to make a tackle or sack. He is flying to the ball constantly. He has some deceptive speed and you can tell he prepares well for game day. Freeman reminds me a lot of Derrick Morgan as he is just in full attack mode. This young man is going to be fun to watch for the next four years. If he has a good camp, don't be surprised to see him lined up next to Adam Gotsis and Shawn Green.
