THEY WON!! THEY WON!! In doing this, the Yellow Jackets became the lowest seed ever to win an ACC Championship tournament AGAIN!!!

The Yellow Jackets got things started off quickly, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. With a runner on first and two outs, Thomas Smith came up to the plate. On the 0-1 pitch, Smith doubled into left field to drive in Matt Gonzalez from first. The very next batter (AJ Murray) also doubled, his into left-center, to drive in Thomas Smith.

Maryland would try to stay competitive and score a run in the bottom of the second off of a Blake Schmit home run. The Yellow Jackets would come back to add another run in the top of the fourth though. After a leadoff double by Thomas Smith, AJ Murray came up to the plate and worked a full count. On the sixth pitch of the at-bat, Murray singled into center, which was enough to score Thomas Smith.

In the next three innings, Maryland would add three more runs to take their only lead of the game. It wouldn't last very long, however, as the Yellow Jackets came back and scored six runs in the last three innings. After leading off the top of the seventh with a double, Brandon Gold went to third on a sac bunt by Ryan Peurifoy, and then scored on a sac fly from Mitch Earnest.

Daniel Spingola led off the eighth inning with a double. Matt Gonzalez would try to bunt him over to third, but the Maryland pitcher committed a throwing error, allowing Gonzo to reach second and Spingy to score. Fast-forward a couple of batters and Gonzalez is on third and AJ Murray on second, with Connor Justus at the plate. After a 10-pitch at-bat, Justus singled up the middle to drive in both Gonzo and AJ Murray.

In the ninth inning with no one on and two outs, Daniel Spingola came back up to the plate. After getting plunked with a pitch, Spingy would score from first off of a double into left-center from Matt Gonzalez. Thomas Smith was the next batter up. He singled and moved Gonzo up a bag to bring up AJ Murray. Murray would single through the left side to bring Gonzo home to give the Yellow Jackets their ninth and final run of the game.

Starting the championship game for the Yellow Jackets (as expected) was Devin Stanton. In his 3.2 innings, Stanton allowed two runs on five hits with a strikeout and a walk. Coming on in relief of Stanton was Matt Grimes. In his 2.1 innings, Grimes allowed two runs on three hits with a strikeout and a walk. Jonathan Roberts would pitch the seventh inning. He pitched a nearly-perfect inning, only allowing one baserunner and struck out a batter. Coming on to pitch the eighth was Ben Parr. He did pitch a perfect inning, striking out two batters. Closing out the game was Sam Clay. In the ninth inning, Clay gave up a hit and struck out and walked a batter. Jonathan Roberts was credited with the win.

They did it!!! What was the most impressive part of this championship run? Was it being the nine seed, the up-and-down season, the fact that the Yellow Jackets only hit one home run in the entire tournament (in the one game where they didn't need anymore runs)? Was it something else? Who is your MVP?
