ACC Teams in the Mix

(6) North Carolina Tar Heels vs (3) Iowa State Cyclones, 5:15pm, CBS

The Tar Heels come in as winners of 13 of their last 15, but also only 1 of their last 3. They ended the regular season with a loss to Duke, and saw an early exit from the ACC Tournament when they lost to Pittsburgh in their first game. Friday saw them beat 11-seed Providence by a 79-77 mark, due to last-second free throws by James Michael McAdoo and a subsequently botched shot by Bryce Cotton. They take on the Cyclones, who have won 5 in a row, including 3 games on their way to a Big 12 (or so) Championship. They actually entered conference play undefeated, including wins over Iowa, Michigan, and BYU. They've played 18 games against teams in this year's Tournament field, and are 12-6 in those games.

(1) Virginia Cavaliers vs (8) Memphis Tigers, 8:40pm, TNT

The Cavaliers won the ACC Regular Season and Conference Tournament Championships en route to a #1 seed. They're 17-1 in their last 18 games and beat 16-seed Coastal Carolina 70-59 in the first round, in what was a slightly more exciting game than Cavalier fans were hoping for. They take on Memphis, who in their last 7 games have alternated wins and losses, and in their last 9 are 5-4. However, the Tigers are a very dangerous team with a very adept offense. Against Tournament teams this year, they traded wins with Oklahoma, won twice against Louisville, lost twice against Connecticut, lost twice to Cincinnati, and defeated Gonzaga. They beat George Washington 71-66 in the Tournament's first round.

Who will you be watching today? Do both ACC teams survive today?
