Tech hosts UVA in ACC contest

The Jackets hope to knock off one of the current hot teams in the ACC today at home.

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are hosting #20 UVA today at McCamish Pavilion at 12PM noon. The game can be seen on the ACC Network (WATL-TV) and on the radio at 106.7 WYAY-FM.

The rumor is that both Trae Golden and Robert Carter Jr. are healthy and expected to play this game, but I think you will see Robert with limited time as they take the necessary precautions to make sure that his injury heals appropriately. In addition to the Solomon Poole dismissal recently, Chris Bolden recently had an X-Ray on his ankle come back negative, so I do not know his current condition as it pertains to this Saturday's game. We are going to need the team firing on all cylinders if we hope to take away a W today.

From Day 1, I was expecting UVA to do big things this season. Of course Tech is my first love, but I knew that this Virginia team was going to be a very strong. Malcolm Brogdon, Akil Mitchell, Joe Harris and Justin Anderson are four great players that have found ways to win, and win big. They are currently 9-1 in ACC play and 18-5 on the season as they defeated Boston College earlier this week. This season, they have beat Pitt and UNC and have lost to Duke on the road. Looking through their schedule it shows how easy of a schedule they have had this season, but they will have to get through Syracuse before they end their season.  Of course surprises always happen, and Georgia Tech has been known to surprise teams late in the season.

Tech played with SEVEN scholarship players during the Clemson game and for a majority of the Wake Forest game, and this needs to change ASAP. Unfortunately, its not that easy though. It seem like when one player heals, another gets injured. I hope that Trae is healthy, that Robert comes out swinging, and that Chris is not too injured and we can start getting back to the basketball that I know this team is capable of.

Many seem to want to knock this team and Gregory, oddly while they are obviously down, but this is a great team. The leadership of Trae Golden has been exactly what the Jackets program needed, it is just unfortunate how many injuries have plagued this season. If the Jackets can come out playing the way they are capable of, this game will be very exciting. If the game gets out of hand and the Jackets get down early, it will be difficult to come back against this strong Virginia team.

Are you excited to see RC4 and Trae back on the court? What do you think the Jackets need to do to win at home against this strong opponent?
